Block.one founder Dan Larimer has resigned from his position as CTO, according to an official statement made on Jan. 10. Block.one is the company that is developing EOS (EOS).

Larimer resigned from his position on Dec. 31, 2020, saying that he did not know what he would do next, but would continue building solutions “for securing life, liberty, property, and justice for all”
He founded Block.one in 2017 along with CEO Brendan Blumer; the company is currently focusing on its social media platform, Voice
Larimer has worked on several projects, including Steemit and BitShares
The EOS token has dropped significantly in value since the news, plummeting by 21% to $2.76 at the time of publishing
EOS has been the subject of controversy over the years as it attempted to dethrone Ethereum, raising a then-record $4 billion in its 2017 ICO and being fined $24 million by the US SEC
Other employees have also left the company, with a report published by Outlier Ventures in Jun. 2020 showing that core
