Silver prices have rocketed to their highest since 2013 as retail investors, egged on by messages on Reddit, pile into the market in an attempt to push up prices, although most analysts and traders say the rally will run out of steam.
Spot silver vaulted as high as $30.03 an ounce on Monday from $25 on Thursday morning, while shares of silver miners surged and retailers of bars and coins around the world struggled to meet demand.

But analysts say it will be extremely difficult to subject silver to the kind of short squeeze engineered last week on companies like U.S. video game store chain GameStop, which sent its shares up by hundreds of percent, and there is no shortage of the precious metal, so the market is likely to calm.

WHAT HAPPENED?
The furore began on Thursday after posts on the r/wallstreetbets Reddit message board -- the same one used to spark frenzied buying of GameStop shares -- urged investors to buy physical silver.

An early post, which quickly spread across social media, encouraged buying of iShares Silver Trust, an exchange traded fund (ETF) whose shares represent ounces of silver sitting in vaults.

This would force the fund to create new shares and buy silver to back them, exposing a shortage of supply and pushing prices up, said the post under the headline “THE BIGGEST SHORT SQUEEZE IN THE WORLD $SLV Silver 25$ to 1000$.”

I entered into blockchain for the disruptive and innovative technology. Watching it grow over the year has been a blast for me as well as other supporters, I'm sure.

But what I learned over the years that very good chunk of people have no clue about Bitcoin and the blockchain technology behind it. They are here because of the profits and money grab. You cannot really call them supporters or adopters because at the first sign of profit trouble, they are out. IF they can't make any money, it's bye-bye for them.

I've talked to a lot of people, some really interested in the tech and some not at all and this is what makes me sad every time I think about it.

People don't understand the technology, they don't want to understand it and they don't care about it, only thing they care about is money. They heard it's good money to be made there.
When you listen to them talk, you instantly realize that they have no idea what they are talking about, nothing makes sense and they are just trying to sell you something they themselves don't understand. When you challenge them on the subject they avoid it with more nonsense or try to intimidate you by raising their voice.

There are of course people who deeply understand the technology and are very involved, which is a breath of fresh air, but every so often you stumble upon the other kind.

I can understand people looking to make a quick buck and then getting hooked up, but to never trying to understand the technology or even care about it seem like a bad news for blockchain/crypto

Just look at some scam coins like OneCoin and Bitconnect. They grabbed their money, and now they are gone, dropped from the face of the earth.
Ian Balina, withdrew his BTC in 2018 and you don't hear from him ever.
John Mcafee, where is he now? He shilled crypto so hard few years ago and now you don't hear about him.
and many many more.....

One time I got connected with a person who was a friend of a friend, interested in doing business together, rich and influential but had no knowledge of blockchain. The first thing he asked me was "is this a scam or a pyramid scheme?"... even before I could say anything.
That was his perception of Bitcoin, blockchain and crypto.

These types of people make the industry and technology look bad altogether.
However, bad marketing is marketing also. At least people hear about Bitcoin and blockchain.

But...

Is this how adoption takes place? Bunch of people who are in it for the money and scram at the first sign of trouble?

Bitcoin surged by over $1,000 in a single hour, showing that its latest bubble hasn't popped yet—but it's going through a price correction.

Bitcoin has seen a strong bounce in the last hour, rising from lows of $36,000 to above $37,000. The cryptocurrency reached a high of $37,450 before coming back to the $37,000 mark.

This puts the coin in a stronger position after it fell to a low of $33,860 over the weekend.

Recently, Bitcoin has been in the midst of a price correction. On January 8, 2021, Bitcoin broke the $40,000 barrier—and set a new all-time high in price in the process—but soon after nosedived by over $10,000 in a single day.

Not only was that price crash the biggest Bitcoin has experienced in a single day since its inception, but it prompted calls that Bitcoin's latest bubble had burst, and that it was facing down a new bear market. Yet so far, such a crash hasn't happened, suggesting the rally isn't over.

This concurs with bullish sentiment from institutional investors. Such investors plowed $700 million into Grayscale's trusts on Friday, the most it has ever seen in a single day.

The rest of the cryptocurrency market hasn't been particularly affected; the price of Ethereum is up just 0.9% on the day. Litecoin's price, however, has followed Bitcoin's bounce and has risen 7% in the last 24 hours, mainly due to a spike in the last hour.

Down jones has not moved much in the past 1 year. If you look at the image, you will see a 5% growth.

Compare that to Crypto market and you will be amazed.

And the prices will only grow exponentially from there.
