The consolidating market finally ended on late 26 July, when Bitcoin prices started to rally. Due to strong correlations between Bitcoin and other major cryptos like Ethereum, the alts also marched along.
Ethereum, the second-largest coin reported an 11% growth within a day, that pushed it to a 2020 price peak of $334. However, Ethereum’s sideways movement had ended a few days ago, as the coin was moving higher on the price ladder.

After testing the waters above $250 on 11th June 11:00 UTC, Ethereum faced a drastic turn of events, that might not have appeased its proponents. In a period of 14-hours, Ethereum’s valuation dropped all the way down to $225 from $251.

The estimated depreciation was close to 10 percent, which is its largest pullback in June. Due to an established presence of buying pressure, the token was able to rally back above $230, and its current valuation stood at $235.

There are a couple of things that are imperative to Ethereum’s movement over the next 24-48 hours. Firstly, the 10 percent depreciation suffered yesterday was Ethereum’s first breach below support $233 in June. The largest altcoin has been able to deal with short-term adversity in the month, as a bearish breakout from a symmetrical triangle also did not shave much of Ethereum’s value.

Now, for a majority of the month, Ethereum has exhibited navigation above the $240 mark (bullish trading zone) but the recent collapse led to ETH plummeting all the way down to $225. Now, the lower range position was extremely short-lived as the bulls were able to drive the price back above $235 at press time.

For Ethereum to maintain its bullish propagation, a breach above $240 within the next 24-hours is highly essential. Considering the asset is able to surge above the immediate resistance, it would be fair to say Ethereum’s bullish momentum escaped the short-term onslaught.

The world might have to wait for a while until normal order resumes, but in the Bitcoin derivatives market, panic is seeping away, for better or for worse.

Last week, on 12 March, Bitcoin saw its worst price drop in 7 years, losing a third of its value in less than a day. Futures traders, in a bid to capitalize on the volatility, or rather to salvage some returns, sold off their positions, pushing volume up over $30 billion and pushing Open Interest down.

This collective and severe trading and volatility rush saw massively skewed trades, given the rapid nature of the price depreciation. In a matter of just two days, derivatives exchanges saw their B/O spread rise to significant month-long highs as imminent price movement was anyone’s guess. But, now it looks like liquidity is returning.

According to data from Skew markets, the B/O spread for major exchanges, those catering to deep-pocketed and retail investors, are simmering down. BitMEX, the Seychelles-based derivatives exchanges known for its tight trading, saw its $10 million B/O spread surge to 4.07 percent on 13 March, while the average for the past three months stood at 0.42 percent. At press time, the spread had dropped to 1.57 percent.

The volatility in the digital asset industry has been off the charts lately and according to cryptovolatility.net, Ethereum was 4.58 percent volatile, when compared to Bitcoin, at the time of writing. It has been a torrid time for the digital asset ecosystem lately and Bitcoin Cash has been a part of it as well.

Since the cryptocurrency market’s fall on 12 March, Bitcoin Cash has lost over 34.16 percent of its valuation over the past week, with its price recorded to be $178, at press time. Its market cap remained around $3.27 billion and it had a trading volume of $3.75 billion over the past 24-hours.
